Banana Cream Pie

Updated: Jun 4, 2020

You guys, omg. This pie could make me do crazy things...it's AMAZING.

I have made several recipes over my time and have kind of combined random recipes to finally get my favorite recipe of all. Try this. Make it for a party, make it just because. You will thank me!! I have narrowed this recipe down to easy ingredients and steps - so anyone can do this!

Banana cream pie, vanilla wafer, banana, whipped cream, cool whip
Banana Cream Pie

INGREDIENTS:

Crust:

- 2 & 1/2 cups crushed vanilla wafers (1 box)

- 1/4 cup sugar

- 1 stick (1/2 cup) melted butter

Filling:

1 cup vanilla wafers

2 bananas (for filling and topping)

8 oz tub Cool Whip - need half of this

1 1/2 cup milk

5.1oz box instant vanilla pudding

Whipped Cream:

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

3 tablespoons powdered sugar

2 cups heavy cream

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Crust:

1. Crush the bag of vanilla wafers (save a few to decorate the top of the pie at the end). 2. Add the sugar and melted butter to the wafers and combine.

3. Press firmly in the pie pan up the sides and the base.

4. Once the pie crust is all formed put it in the oven and bake for about 8 minutes.

5. After 8 minutes, take it out and set aside to cool.

Filling:

1. Whisk together the 1 1/2 cups milk and the pudding mix.

2. It will start to thicken -- once it has - fold in half the tub of cool whip.

3. Next, mix in 1 cup of the chopped vanilla wafers and then 1 of the bananas sliced.

Putting together:

1. In the cooled crust, add half the filling.

2. Then I like to take half of the second bananas slices and line the perimeter of the filling (it looks pretty when you cut the pieces).

3. Add the rest of the filling over the sliced bananas.

4. Place in Fridge

When ready to serve:

Whipped Cream:

1. Mix the heavy cream on high - while forming peaks, add the sugar and the vanilla.

2. Whip until peaks form.

1. Now, top the pie filling with all of the whipped cream. Pile it high!

2. Finish the pie off with the rest of the banana slices decorative on top and crumble the saved vanilla wafers over the top.

Notes: I usually make the pie in the morning of, or night before the day I want to eat it. I won't decorate the top with the banana or whipped cream until before serving so it does not turn brown and stays perfectly fresh.
